Gov. says no to more negotiations

Governor David Paterson this morning began the lengthy process of vetoing the nearly 6,900 line items the legislature added to its budget bills. He said, in no uncertain terms, that he's done negotiating. NY Senate Overrides Pataki's Vetoes

NY Lawmakers Override School Budget Extension Veto

Fighting words from the governor: he called the legislature's version of the state budget "irresponsible" and vowed to fight back with vetoes and political pressure. Also yesterday, the Republican-dominated state Senate voted unanimously to override Pataki's veto of a bill delaying school budget votes. The Assembly overrode the bill Monday.
