Preview: Irish-inspired operas at the Sembrich Museum

The Sembrich Opera Museum's artistic director Richard Wargo brings to the historic studio of the late diva Marcella Sembrich an evening of selections from his works and will give the audience a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of his Irish-inspired operas. "From the Bards of Ireland" will be presented Saturday night (7:30) at the Sembrich Opera Museum in Bolton Landing. Sembrich museum celebrates music of Menotti

One of the highlights this summer at the Sembrich Museum in Bolton Landing is a tribute to Italian-American composer Gian Carlo Menotti. He wrote the classic Christmas opera, Amahl and the Night Visitors and dozens of other operas. Thursday marks the centennial of Menotti's birth. He died in 2007. There's a free showing this afternoon at the museum of an early television production of Menotti's Pulitzer Prize-winning Cold War tragedy, The Consul.
