Willsboro, NY, Jul 14, 2010 — This summer, we're checking in with the candidates vying for seats in congress, asking about the issues that are shaping their campaigns. One of the fiercest contests is the Republican primary for the 23rd district, which stretches from Watertown to Plattsburgh to Saranac Lake.

Willsboro, NY, Apr 14, 2010 — The budget crisis continues in Albany. Lawmakers and Governor David Paterson have failed to reach a budget agreement for next year. The legislature has approved narrow budget extenders that allow crucial services to continue, but many payments are being withheld.

The state Budget Director says New York could run completely out of money as early as June. Brian Mann checked in yesterday with Assemblywoman Teresa Sayward. The Republican from Willsboro says the budget impasse is already hurting businesses in the North Country.  Go to full article

Willsboro, NY, Dec 04, 2009 — This week, New York's state Senate rejected a bill legalizing same-sex marriage. The North Country's three Senators, Darrel Aubertine, Betty Little and Joe Griffo all voted against the bill. The vote was a blow to gay rights activists. One of the most unlikely advocates for same-sex marriage is Assemblywoman Teresa Sayward. Sayward is a former dairy farmer who lives in Willsboro. She describes herself as a Roman Catholic and a conservative Republican. But after wrestling with homosexuality in her own family, Sayward has become a national spokeswoman for what she views as marriage equality. She has traveled to Florida and New Jersey to campaign for gay rights. Willsboro, NY, Aug 04, 2009 — This summer, researchers are fanning out across the Northeast trying to get a clearer picture of what is happening to the region's bats. Scientists say many bat colonies have been wiped out by a fungal disease, called white-nose syndrome, first detected in 2006. One of the big questions still unanswered is how white-nose syndrome is transmitted. Dec 03, 2008 — Author Russell Banks visits the Champlain Valley Film Society in Willsboro this Saturday. He'll introduce the film, Affliction, based on his novel. It'll be shown at 8 pm at Willsboro Central School. Dec 09, 2002 — A conservation group and a coalition of private landowners have announced their choice for this year's Adirondack Stewardship Award. The honor - given each year since 1996 - is meant to recognize organizations that protect open space in the Adirondack Park.
