Twenty-five years ago this summer, Jeff Blatnick won a gold medal at the Los Angeles Olympic Games. The Schenectady native's upset victory in Graeco-Roman wrestling was one of the big stories of the 1984 summer games. It also marked one of the most dramatic comebacks in sports history. Blatnick lives now and coaches in Saratoga County. But his sports career was nearly cut short, first by cold war politics and then by a brutal fight with cancer. Heard Up North: Promoting Pro Wrestling (I Learned How in High School)

More than 2600 pro wrestling fans will be screaming on Saturday night. The World Wrestling Entertainment show is coming to Ogdensburg. It's all thanks to some enterprising high school students at the Ogdensburg Free Academy. The student council, along with two sports and entertainment marketing classes, planned and promoted the wrestling show. 20% of the proceeds will go to the school. Their work paid off- they sold all 2600 tickets in 20 minutes.

Senior Amy Brassard says a lot of big time wrestlers will be there...like Kid Kash, the Boogyman, Super Crazy and Psicosis. Unfortunately, the pro wrestler known as The Undertaker will not be attending...  Go to full article

Faced with financial problems, River Hospital of Alexandria Bay is holding a unique kind of fundraiser. Pro-wrestling will bring body slams and double big boots to Bonnie Castle Resort for a charity match on August 9th.  Go to full article
