Rockin' at the Green

High school musicians usually get a chance to perform for an audience at school jazz band or orchestra concerts. But aside from parties and the occasional high school dance, there are few opportunities for young rock musicians to test their licks in public. For 7 years now, the Norwood Village Green concert series has provided an outlet for high school bands to rock out. A Place to Grow: Gouverneur's New Community Garden

Ground was broken and tilled late last month for a new community garden in the village of Gouverneur. It's not the first or the only community garden in the North Country, but it's one that will be managed by young people and youth groups. Organizers say it will be a reliable source of fresh vegetables for area families and food pantries, as well as a powerful means to bring people together.
