- 8-9 pm: Peter Ostroushko's Heartland Holiday--a celebration of the spirit of the season from a multi-cultural perspective. This musical journey features traditional carols, ancient Ukrainian carols and Peter's favorite Bob Dylan tune.
- 9 to 11 pm, The Paul Winter Consort Winter Solstice Celebration, from the cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City, a unique exploration of the winter solstice in cultures around the world.
Saturday, December 23
- 9 pm to 10 pm, Jazz Piano Christmas XVII, seasonal favorites from Allen Toussaint, Cedar Walton, Nancy King, and other jazz artists.
Sunday, December 24
- 10 am to 11:30 am, A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, the legendary Christmas Eve service, live from King's College, Cambridge, England.
- 1 pm to 2 pm, Season's Griot, Madafo Lloyd Wilson hosts a Kwanzaa celebration in story and song.
- 3 pm to 4 pm, The Christmas Revels, a musical celebration of the winter holidays including Christmas, the Solstice, New Year's and Twelfth Night, featuring traditional carols and tunes.
- 4 pm to 5 pm, St. Lawrence University Candlelight Concert, recorded at Gunnison Chapel earlier this month.
- 6 pm to 7 pm, The Blind Boys of Alabama Christmas Show, Gospel and other seasonal songs from this multi-award winning ensemble.
- 7 pm to 8 pm, The Pleasures of Winter, with fiddler Jay Ungar and guitarist Molly Mason.
- 8 pm to 9 pm, Winter Dreams: Ensemble Galilei, Evocative music for the holidays from the Celtic traditions.
- 9 pm to 10 pm, Christmas with the Morehouse and Spelman Glee Clubs, a joyous celebration of great choral traditions.
Monday, Christmas Day
- 10 am to 11 am, Christmas Around the Country, the best of holiday music-making from coast to coast, hosted by Fred Child.
- 11 am to noon, A Chanticleer Christmas, inspiring sounds for the season from one of the world' finest choral ensembles.
- Noon to 3 pm, Handel's Messiah, a performance featuring the renowned Philadelphia Singers Chorale and the Philadelphia Orchestra.
- 3 pm to 5 pm, A Christmas Carol - Master storyteller Ashley Ramsden plays all 23 characters in this production of the Dickens classic.
- 8 to 10 pm, St. Olaf Christmas Festival, From Minnesota, the cherished holiday celebration featuring 500 student musicians.
- 10 pm to midnight, Bach's Christmas Oratorio, a performance recorded at Carnegie Hall, featuring the Collegiate Chorale and soloists.
Sunday, December 31
- 6 pm to 7 pm, The Capitol Steps New Year's Special, a public radio tradition --- a satirical review of the year's politics and news, in song and skit.
(This program is repeated New Year's Day at 1pm)
- 7 pm -8 pm: Is it really New Year's Eve? Einstein's Theory of Relativity may have implications on the concept of time and choice. Namely, that there is none. Do we choose how we'll celebrate tonight? No. (The choice has already been made, some say.) Do we choose to sip champagne? No. (Already sipped.) This amazingly entertaining hour of features conversations with an entire cast of characters who are all waging battle against time or at least the common sense view of time.
- 8 pm to sometime in 2007, The Fabulous Annual Guy and Ellen's New Year's Eve Show, join NCPR's Ellen Rocco and Guy Berard and special guests for an evening of tunes to accompany you on the journey into 2007. Your requests will be welcomed.
