(Aug 22, 2012) Authorities say a small plane that was forced to land on an Adirondack lake last week had lost its propeller in midair. The plane was contracted by the U.S. Defense Department to support an ongoing Vermont Air National Guard training exercise. It was recovered from Gull Lake in northern Herkimer County over the weekend by a private salvage company.
(Jan 11, 2012) The state Comptroller issued a scathing report yesterday, arguing that "mismanagement" at the Adirondack Regional Airport in Lake Clear has cost Harrietstown nearly a quarter million dollars. The report also found that local officials "could not account for" nearly four thousand gallons of fuel. Brian Mann has details.
Aviator Finds Niche Teaching North Country Pilots

(Jun 2, 2006) Darren Mesibov started his flight instructor school at the Potsdam airport with nothing but a single-engine plane. He didn’t even have an office – he’d meet students on the ramp leading up to the runway. He was just trying to build up enough hours to get his commercial pilot’s license. But then he took out a classified ad, in the Pennysaver. And suddenly his fortunes changed. Gregory Warner tells the story.(If you’re interested in an intro flight, you can call Potsdam Aviation at (315) 262-0326. Or if you prefer to sit in the passenger seat, you can stop by the Potsdam airport any Friday evening. There’s a barbeque from 6 pm till dark. And you might convince one of the pilots to take you for a ride.)
