(Nov 7, 2012) Republican Janet Duprey swept the 115th Assembly race last night, beating back Conservative challenger Karen Bisso and Democrat Tim Carpenter.
Assembly candidates spar over health care, public land

(Oct 10, 2012) It's been a lackluster political season in much of the North Country, with many seats going uncontested. But the 115th Assembly district race has sparked fierce debate and fiery rhetoric. The newly-formed district represents Clinton, Franklin and part of St. Lawrence County. Three candidates — a Republican, a Democrat and a Conservative, are vying for the seat now held by Assemblywoman Janet Duprey. Duprey faced off with her challengers Monday during a debate in Plattsburgh sponsored by Mountain Lake PBS. Major flashpoints were affordable healthcare and the Gov. Andrew Cuomo's plan to expand the state forest preserve in the Adirondacks.
Three GOP candidates fight for 115th district nod

(Sep 11, 2012) On Thursday, Republican voters will choose a candidate to represent their party in the race for New York's newly shaped 115th Assembly District. Janet Duprey, the long-time assemblywoman from Peru, faces a stiff challenge from two conservatives: Plattsburgh educator Karen Bisso and Cadyville businessman David Kimmel. The race reflects deep divisions within the GOP, sparked in part by Duprey's support for same-sex marriage.
