(Jul 25, 2003) This week, North Country Public Radio has explored the world of outdoor recreation—everything from economic development to the growing conflicts between the different groups who use the outdoors. None of this would matter without the people who love the outdoors so passionately. Brian Mann talks in-depth with Father Dan Callahan, a Franciscan friar who works at St. Josephs Rehabilitation Center in Saranac Lake. Known as “The Iron Friar”, Father Dan is a veteran athlete and outdoorsman. He’ll compete this weekend in the Fifth Annual Lake Placid Ironman.
