(Jul 21, 2010) You're invited to take part in a marathon reading of Mark Twain's The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn at the Keene Valley Library on Friday. Librarian Karen Glass says the day-long "Huck Finn Out Loud" event starts early in the morning and will feature 30 readers reading aloud for 30 minutes each. Twain spent the summer of 1901 on Lower Saranac Lake. Glass told Todd Moe it's part of a series of events this summer that celebrate Twain's connection to the Adirondacks.

(Jul 7, 2010) The Lake Placid Center for the Arts hosts the exhibition, Precious Metals: Jewelry & Functional Art. It opens on Friday and continues through mid August. Adirondack artists Susan Camp and David Woodward will show their works along with many internationally-known artists. The exhibit will feature unique jewelry pieces, along with other one-of-a-kind items like fireplace tools, lamps and candlestick holders. The theme of the show is the idea that we live with art every day, and even ordinary objects can be works of art. Dan Dailey is a New Hampshire glass artist who's been in the public eye for the past four decades and collected by nearly fifty museums on three continents. Dailey spoke with Todd Moe about the Lake Placid show and his career as a glass and metal artist.

(Jan 10, 2001) With the U.S. economy slowing, Governor Pataki's projections of an economic rebound for Upstate New York may be hasty. But there was good news for the North Country yesterday when southern-tier based Corning Incorporated announced it will expand its plant in Canton. The investment is expected to bring 125 new jobs to St. Lawrence County over the next three years. As David Sommerstein reports, Lieutenant Governor Mary Donohue was on hand to spread the message that the state is doing all it can to make growth and investment in Upstate New York easy for business.
