(Aug 16, 2011) The Lowes corporation abruptly closed its big box store in Ticonderoga Sunday night, a move that affects more than eighty employees. The company blamed lackluster sales and shuttered six other stores nationwide. As Brian Mann reports, efforts are already underway to help laid-off workers. But the closure could also hurt regional contractors and construction workers throughout the southern Champlain Valley.

(Jan 22, 2009) State officials have reopened the debate over the future of Lowes Lake in the central Adirondacks. The Department of Environmental Conservation says float planes should be allowed to use the lake for another four years. Some green groups say that would violate state law, which calls for Lowes Lake to be managed as a wilderness area. Brian Mann has this update.
(Jul 21, 2006) In a surprise move, the Adirondack Park Agency yesterday issued a permit approving construction of a new Lowe's superstore in Ticonderoga. The 153,000 square-foot store will sit next to the community's Wal-Mart store on the outskirts of the village. As Brian Mann reports, the Agency still hasn't approved a controversial 300 square-foot sign proposed for the front of the building.
