<description><![CDATA[ (Mar 25, 2013) Police and emergency personnel gathered in Lake Placid last week to learn some critical skills and techniques for responding to an active shooting incident.Law enforcement agencies from across the North Country took part in the training sessions, which were held at the former W. Alton Jones Cell Science Center in Lake Placid. Participants included members of New York State Police; the Essex, Clinton and Franklin County sheriff&apos;s departments; Tupper Lake, Saranac Lake and Lake Placid police departments; and state environmental conservation officers and forest rangers. <description><![CDATA[ (Aug 17, 2012) The Adirondack Daily Enterprise reports that Seth A. Kilburn was found dead Friday morning. No additional information has yet been made available. NCPR Report as of 8:15 am: Police in Lake Placid are getting more help from outside agencies as the search for Seth A. Kilburn continues.Police Chief Bill Moore said eight crews of up to seven people were out searching for the 34-year-old Lake Placid man on Thursday. State police and the state Department of Environmental Conservation also provided additional manpower.Chris Morris will have more on this story during the 8 O&apos;clock Hour. Kilburn picked up steam on Wednesday, with volunteers and law enforcement officials joining forces to check big swaths of land and water in and around Lake Placid.Kilburn was last seen leaving Wiseguys bar in Lake Placid early Sunday morning. Village police have since received word that he was seen shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday on Sentinel Road near Lisa G&apos;s restaurant, walking in the direction of the Olympic Ski Jumping Complex.Kilburn was reported missing by his parents early Monday morning. <description><![CDATA[ (Jul 30, 2012) A peaceful protest in Burlington turned violent late yesterday afternoon when demonstrators clashed with police. Approximately 500 protestors took the streets downtown to protest the 36th annual New England Governors conference. While New England governors and eastern Canadian premiers met at the waterfront Hilton Hotel to discuss energy policy, protestors demonstrated outside, voicing their opposition to a proposed pipeline across northern New England that would ship Tar Sands oil to Portland, Maine.
