(Jul 27, 2005) Long appreciated by Raquette Lake residents, summer people and passing tourists for its history, striking architecture and community significance, St. William's church on Long Point, is in the midst of restoration, rebuilding and repairs. In the late 1800's, St. William's was the parish church for Raquette Lake and served many of the Irish and French-Canadian Catholics who were the early pioneers on the Lake. Today, it's a seasonal camp and cultural center, accessible only by boat. Todd Moe visited historic St. William's on Long Point and some of the volunteers who are working to restore the 19th century church.
