(Jun 30, 2008) One of the North Country's most famous acting troupes is back in action this summer. This production company doesn't have a stage or a theater. Instead, the volunteers gather in an old used-car garage in Port Henry to film new episodes of the famous TV series "Star Trek." The troupe brings to life the show's classic era, with new voyages and new adventures for Captain Kirk and Spock and the other iconic characters. The episodes air on the internet, drawing hundreds of thousands of viewers. Brian Mann dropped by the set last week and has our story.
(Jul 17, 2006) Shooting wraps up this week in Port Henry on a new made-for-internet Star Trek episode. The project is directed by Hollywood actor Tim Russ, who played the Vulcan Tuvok in the 1990s. Stars include Walter Koenig, the original Chekov, and Nichelle Nichols, who played Lt. Uhura. As Brian Mann reports, they've partnered with local fans and film-makers intent on keeping the Trek universe alive.
(Jul 12, 2006) This week, an empty Chevy dealership in the Champlain Valley town of Port Henry has come to life again. The dusty building has been transformed by a small group of Star Trek fans into a professional-quality movie studio. Using volunteer labor and some surprising sources of money, the group is creating new Star Trek episodes that harken back to the TV show's glory days in the late 1960s. Brian Mann has our story.
