<description><![CDATA[ (Aug 19, 2008) Governor Paterson is proposing cuts to financial aid that could take millions of dollars in tuition money off the table for New Yorkers getting ready to attend college. Bill Short, at St. Lawrence University, is director of the school’s Higher Education Opportunity Program, one of the state plans that could see a 6% cut in state funding. He tells Jonathan Brown this would reverse years of investing in the education of native New Yorkers, and it comes at a bad time for students.
