(Apr 23, 2004) After our long winter, spring has finally arrived in the North Country. The ice has left most of the lakes. Loons and herons are returning to their nests. This week, Brian Mann ventured out in his kayak, visiting Valcour Island on Lake Champlain. He sends this audio postcard.
(Aug 28, 2001) This month—225 years ago—Benedict Arnold launched his fleet of ships on Lake Champlain. The history of that campaign is now being rediscovered and re-evaluated. Archeologists are pulling long-lost artifacts from the muddy silt near the battle of Valcour Island. Re-enactors are bringing to life a desperate, brutal struggle that helped to launch the American Revolution. Brian Mann reports.
