Report: NY's energy could near 100% renewable by 2030

(Apr 15, 2013) A recent study from Cornell and Stanford universities outlines a scenario that would see New York State generating all its energy from renewable sources by year 2030. Cornell University Professor Tony Ingraffea co-authored the study. The basic question researchers considered was whether New York could do without energy from fossil fuels in the near future. The answer, he says, is yes.
(Oct 12, 2012) A company that wants to erect 48 wind turbines in the town of Clayton recently announced it would seek permitting through the state's Article X, not the town council. Another company did the same thing in nearby Cape Vincent earlier this year.Article X is a law passed last year. It gives a state board the authority to green light new power plants, including wind farms, possibly over local objections.
