Severe thunderstorms hit eastern NY for second day

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) Strong thunderstorms are hitting eastern New York for a second day, with damaging winds triggering a tornado warning west of Albany and the threat of flash floods through the evening.

The National Weather Service says a tornado was possible in a line of storms that moved through parts of Herkimer, Montgomery and Fulton counties late Thursday afternoon.  Go to full article

It looks like after today's unsettled weather has passed, we'll have another great weekend in store with sunny skies both Saturday and Sunday. We have another great weekend in store weather wise, with temperatures forecast to reach 80 degrees, and only a very slight chance of encountering an afternoon or evening rainstorm. Heavy rains flood Albany area

MECHANICVILLE, N.Y. (AP) Heavy rain caused local flooding in the Albany area and one small Hudson River city declared a state of emergency.

Mechanicville in Saratoga County declared the emergency Wednesday night after a one-two punch of roughly three inches of rain and a water main break. Drivers are asked to avoid city roads until 10 a.m. Thursday and residents are being advised to boil their water.  Go to full article
