Ausable ice jam breaks

A flood warning remains in effect through this afternoon along rivers and streams in Clinton, Essex, eastern St. Lawrence and Franklin counties, as well as parts of Vermont. A state of emergency was declared in the Town of Jay, along the Ausable River. County officials say there have been no injuries. Officials from both Essex and Franklin counties were watching as an ice jam at Ausable Forks moved downstream this afternoon, and the river was falling. Emergency officials also reported an ice jam and flooding in Champlain. Evacuations were underway. Brian Mann was also watching the Ausable. Seniors struggle to stay warm

Remember a couple months ago when it felt like spring on Christmas Day? If this winter has taught us anything, it's that warm spells aside, the North Country still has bitter cold and heavy snows. The deep winter hits senior citizens especially hard. Many older people lack the money, health, or energy to keep their homes warm. A long Valentine's Day For the plowmen

We've been hearing about the emergency workers and road crews who've been hard at work the last couple of days, digging out from the Valentine's Day snowstorm. The guys on the front line of that effort are the plow drivers who worked round the clock struggling to keep roads and highways open. Brian Mann hitched a ride for a couple of hours on a plow in Saranac Lake. He sent this audio postcard.  Go to full article

Snow blasts North Country

The North Country got its share of yesterday's rough weather. The Adirondack Northway was closed for nearly 12 hours because of drifting snow. A state of emergency was declared in Clinton, Essex and Franklin Counties. Travel restrictions remain in effect today. Brian Mann has more.  Go to full article
