Second Winter Storm Smacks North Country

Another winter storm smacked the North Country Wednesday. As of 6:30 this morning, the storm had dropped more than ten inches of snow at the airport in Burlington, with fresh six inches in Saranac Lake and Ticonderoga. Snow combined with freezing rain and ice to snarl traffic across the region, closing a half-dozen highways -- including stretches of I-87. Seaway Season Extended

A mild fall and early winter is leading officials on both sides of the St. Lawrence Seaway to give shippers an extra two days to transport goods in and out of the Great Lakes. As David Sommerstein reports, officials hope the extension makes up for a slight slowdown in cargo traffic from last year.  Go to full article

Emergency Declared in the Town of Moriah

According to state police and the Essex County Sheriff's office, a state of emergency has been declared in the Town of Moriah. Details are sketchy, but the town is apparently experiencing wide-spread power outages. Brian Mann spoke with Moriah town supervisor Walter Rushby.  Go to full article

Snow Closes Whiteface Highway

It's not even Columbus Day and already parts of New York are beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Up to two inches of snow fell in the Adirondacks this week and enough snow fell in western New York for the plows to be called out. Jody Tosti reports.  Go to full article
