Second Winter Storm Smacks North Country

Another winter storm smacked the North Country Wednesday. As of 6:30 this morning, the storm had dropped more than ten inches of snow at the airport in Burlington, with fresh six inches in Saranac Lake and Ticonderoga. Snow combined with freezing rain and ice to snarl traffic across the region, closing a half-dozen highways -- including stretches of I-87. Seaway Season Extended

A mild fall and early winter is leading officials on both sides of the St. Lawrence Seaway to give shippers an extra two days to transport goods in and out of the Great Lakes.
