Harvesting the Wind: Up Close to the Turbines

Wind farms of huge turbines are springing up along coastlines, windy ridges and blustery farmland. Construction of one of the largest planned in the East is expected to begin this spring on the Tug Hill Plateau, where the terrain rises to catch the prevailing winds off Lake Ontario. Most of us will only see the huge turbines from a distance. For Jamaican Apple Pickers, Hurricane Ivan Hit Home

One month ago, Hurricane Ivan slammed into the island of Jamaica, ripping apart houses and knocking out phone lines and electricity. The storm hit just as hundreds of Jamaican workers were arriving in the Champlain Valley to help with the fall apple harvest. These last weeks, the men have struggled to support their families while far from home. As Brian Mann reports, this has been a season of worry, but also a season of faith.
