An ice jam on the Salmon River triggered a flood through the weekend, forcing residents in Malone to evacuate at least eight homes. Second Winter Storm Smacks North Country

Another winter storm smacked the North Country Wednesday. As of 6:30 this morning, the storm had dropped more than ten inches of snow at the airport in Burlington, with fresh six inches in Saranac Lake and Ticonderoga. Snow combined with freezing rain and ice to snarl traffic across the region, closing a half-dozen highways -- including stretches of I-87.
